Red Energy was established in 2004 as a 100% Australian energy company. They are owned by Snowy Hydro renewable energy and house their head office in Melbourne. 100% of their customer service team resides in Melbourne.

When Red Energy was first established, the company only provided services to those living in Victoria. Since then, they have expanded and now also provide electricity to households in South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland. They also provide gas to those living in Victoria and in the Jemena Gas Network area of New South Wales.

The plans available dependant on location as follows:

Living Energy Saver: Those who select the living energy saver will receive a 10% ‘pay on time’ discount. This discount applies to the entire energy bill, and living energy saver customers will also receive up to $1500 worth of discounts and benefits through the Red Energy Rewards program. These rewards include: benefits throughout Australia and New Zealand for dining, hotels, movie tickets, attractions, groceries and more.
Living energy saver customers will also enjoy a cooling off period after they join. Customers who choose this plan will not be subject to a contract term for electricity or gas – nor will they face exit fees if they decide to back out of the plan. It is available to residents of Victoria and New South Wales.

Qantas Red Saver – Customers who sign up for the Qantas red saver plan will earn 10,000 bonus Qantas points for electricity and 5,000 points for gas. These points will be applied as frequent flyer miles for the account holder. They will also earn 2 additional points for every dollar spent on their electricity and gas bills when they pay on time. Additionally, Qantas red saver customers will earn 10% Pay on time discounts for their entire energy bill.
Like the living energy saver plan, the Qantas red saver plan has no contract term and no exit fees and also allows new customers the benefit of a cooling off period. This plan is offered to customers living in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.

Qantas Red Plus – Customers who sign up for the Qantas red plus plan will earn 10,000 bonus Qantas points for electricity and 5,000 points for gas. These points will be applied as frequent flyer miles for the account holder. They will also earn 7 additional points per dollar spent on their electricity and gas bills when they pay on time.

The Qantas red plus plan has no contract term and no exit fees, and again offers customers a beneficial cooling off period. It is available to residents of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

Easy Saver (no exit fee): South Australian and Queenslander customers choosing the easy saver plan will receive 10% pay on time discounts for their electricity bills. This plan does not come with a contract term or exit fees, but does allow customers to experience a cooling off period when signing up for new service.

What is a feed-in payment?

On occasion, solar power users generate more electricity than they use. Excess electricity is fed into the grid, making the customer eligible for a feed-in payment. Customers receive feed-in payments in the form of credits on their electricity bill.

Red Energy offers flexible payment options dependant on the customer’s state and suitability. When signing up with Red Energy, a customer service representative will work with you to determine the best payment plan and method for your circumstances.
