Compare Cheap Gas Prices in NSW
NSW has three main gas distributors, with each looking after a separate region of the state. Depending on where you live, your gas distributor is one of the following companies:
- Central Ranges System
- Jemena Gas Networks (NSW)
- Wagga Wagga Gas Distribution Network
Note: Customers in Palerang and Queanbeyan may be serviced by ActewAGL.
Natural gas networks in NSW are owned and operated by private companies. Due to infrastructure development, not all households can be hooked up to the gas network.
Gas suppliers providing service in NSW include:
- Energy Australia
- Dodo Power & Gas
- Lumo Energy
- Origin Energy
- Red Energy
- Simply Energy
Regulated gas prices are available in NSW. Suppliers offering regulated prices (known as Standard Gas suppliers) are assigned to specific regions across the state, and can only offer regulated pricing in their area. This means you will have one regulated tariff available to you based on where you live. Regulated prices are determined by IPART on 1 July each year.
If you choose not to purchase your gas through the Standard Gas supplier, you can also sign up with a different licensed supplier in your area. Compare gas suppliers in NSW to identify which option is best for you.
How do you reduce your Gas Bills in NSW?
Although there is slightly less competition between gas suppliers than with electricity, comparing is still a smart way to avoid overpaying gas in NSW. There may be a lower tariff available to you than the one you are currently on, whether it is a regulated tariff or not.
The NSW Gas Rebate is also available to eligible households who meet certain requirements. It now includes households using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for cooking, heating, and other household activities. It does not extend to the usage of small BBQ gas bottles. With the Gas Rebate you could save between $90 and $99 per year.
Natural gas customers in NSW who are experiencing temporary financial difficulty may be able to participate in the Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) Scheme. This is a voucher-based system and eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis.
